5 Tips for Utilizing the Exemplar Library
1. Curate Videos And Build An Exemplar Library
Admins and Coaches should utilize the Exemplar Library available on TORSH Talent. One way to use the Exemplar Library is to curate videos of exemplars. The best practice library can be made up of mentees at your school. Organize the videos into exemplar collections and sort them by subject, focus, and Common Core Domains.
2. Use Videos To Showcase Examples During PD Sessions
Share TORSH Talent videos during PD sessions as a way of demonstrating effective practice. Then, use Talent as a follow-up to in-person PD. Have mentees upload videos to assess whether or not strategies and skills discussed are being implemented in the classroom and at what level of fidelity.
3. Support A New Curriculum Roll Out With Exemplar Videos
Rolling out curriculum can be challenging. Use the Exemplar Library within TORSH Talent to demonstrate effective strategies to teach the new curriculum. Then, have mentees upload videos of their own practice. Have coaches and peers provide feedback to improve their teaching.
4. Use The Clipping Feature To Create Bite-Sized PD Clips
Videos should focus on one topic or concentration. Instead of adding the entire lesson, clip the video down to 3-5 minutes ideally, or - at most - 15 minutes. Add time-synced prompts, such as time-synced comments, to highlight relevant parts of the video for others to see. 5. Utilize A Videographer To Create High Quality PD Videos
Hire a videographer to film your mentees in the classroom and interview mentees. The videographer can edit the footage and create high-quality clips to use in PD sessions or add to your Exemplar Library.
