How to make my video file smaller for quicker uploads
When recording videos for TORSH Talent, it's always best if you can record at a low resolution setting on your device. The lower the resolution, the smaller the video file will be. The smaller your video file is, the quicker you will be able to upload your video to the Talent platform!
Record with the TORSH Talent Mobile App
That's why we highly recommend using the TORSH Talent mobile app to record your video sessions. By default, the mobile app records at a very low resolution setting. You can adjust this setting by logging into your mobile app and tapping the 'menu icon' at the top.
In the menu, tap 'Settings.' On your Settings page, find the 'Video Quality' option and choose the 'Low' setting to ensure that the videos you record will be the smallest file size possible.
Compressing Your Video On Your Computer
If you recorded your video using your mobile device's Camera app, you will most likely be left with a very sizable video file. Any file that approaches 1GB or more in size is considered a large file and will require a very strong and stable internet connection in order to upload.
If you are not having luck importing/uploading the video file to the TORSH Talent mobile app or through the website version of TORSH Talent on your phone/tablet, we recommend you transfer the file to your computer. You can do so by either plugging your phone into your computer and copying the file to the device or by logging into a cloud storage service, such as Google Drive or Dropbox, on your mobile device and uploading the video file there.
For large video files that were recorded using the TORSH Talent mobile app, you will want to first save a copy to your phone/tablet's Camera Roll. To do so, find your video within the app's 'Videos & Files' page and tap on the video's 'gear icon.' In the new menu, select 'Save To Photo Gallery.' This will save a copy of your video file to your phone/tablet's photo app (Photos on iOS; Gallery on Android).
Transferring Via a Wired Connection
To transfer your video file via a wired connection, please connect your phone to your computer using the specific cable for your device (For most devices, it is a USB-C cord).
On your desktop/laptop computer, go to your settings panel and look for a devices option. Click the icon for your phone/tablet, and you should now find a folder for videos inside.
For Apple devices (iPhones, iPads) you may have a cleaner experience by downloading iTunes and viewing your device on your computer through this program.
Transferring Via a Cloud Storage Service
Another way you can try transferring your video from your mobile device to your computer is through a cloud storage service, such as the Google Drive or Dropbox apps. Google Drive is a free service provided through every Gmail account. Dropbox also has a free plan. Do note that both services have a limited storage capacity for their free versions. Open up the app on your phone or tablet and upload the video file to it.
Once the file is uploaded/processed to your cloud service app on your phone/tablet, go to your desktop/laptop computer and open the cloud storage service from there. Download the video file from the cloud storage service to your computer.
When you have a copy of the video file on your computer, we recommend you compress the file down, or make it smaller, using a video compression software before uploading it to the TORSH Talent platform!
Then Use Handbrake To Compress
