[Observations and Self Assessments](https://support.torsh.co/coaches-mentees?hsLang=en#observations-and-self-assessments) # How to start an Observation based on a Self-Assessment In TORSH Talent, you can initiate an Observation based on a shared Self-Assessment completed by someone else using the **'Start Observation from Self-Assessment'** tool!  If someone has shared their Self-Assessment with you, you can find this tool by opening their shared self-assessment and clicking the **'Actions'** button found in the top, right-hand corner of the form. In the dropdown, select **'Start Observation from Self-Assessment.'**   **![](https://support.torsh.co/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-10-29%20at%2011-02-06%E2%80%AFAM-png.png?width=309&height=319&name=Screenshot%202026-10-29%20at%2011-02-06%E2%80%AFAM-png.png)**   Doing so will automatically open a duplicated Observation form with all of the previous self-assessment's answers and comments carried over. From there you can modify this observation copy with your own answers and comments without affecting the original self-assessment.   ![](https://support.torsh.co/hs-fs/hubfs/Oct-29-2026%2011-11-30-gif.gif?width=1436&height=732&name=Oct-29-2026%2011-11-30-gif.gif)   To reference the original self-assessment, open the **'Attachments' tab** of your observation form and click the automatically **attached self-assessment listed there**.
