How to stop your camera from following you and zooming in automatically in the TORSH Talent Mobile App

Since the release of iPadOS 14.7, many iPad devices have automatically implemented the Center Stage feature, a tool that causes the front-facing "selfie" camera on your device to zoom-in and/or follow you around the frame in order to keep you or the subject being recorded "centered" on the screen.

The Center Stage feature is specific to newer iPad front-facing cameras only and is not a feature of the TORSH Talent Mobile App. While the Center Stage feature can be helpful in some instances, it can also pose a limiting or distracting view of what's being videod.

Devices Affected:

  • M1 iPad Pro (2021) or later

  • iPad Air (5th gen) or later

  • iPad mini (6th gen) or later

  • iPad (9th gen) or later

How To Disable Center Stage

Center Stage can only be disabled while using an app it is automatically implemented in via your device's 'Control Center.' Ideally, you should be able to disable it by following the instructions below:

  1. Open the TORSH Talent mobile app on your iPad.

  2. On the Camera page, tap on the 'Flip Camera' icon to switch to your front-facing camera.

  3. Swipe down from the top, right-hand corner of your iPad screen. This will reveal the 'Control Center.'

  4. Tap the 'TORSH Talent Controls' button, and then tap the 'Center Stage' icon to toggle it 'OFF.'

How To Avoid Center Stage

If you find that the 'Center Stage' option is not available and you cannot turn it off, then you may be running an outdated version of the TORSH Talent mobile app, or your iPad may be out of date.

Please make sure that your iPad is fully up-to-date with the latest software updates and that the TORSH Talent mobile app is fully updated to the latest available version in the Play Store/App Store.

Another way to avoid the Center Stage feature from being enabled in your recording is to only use the back-facing camera on your iPad.
